About Me

One of the first places that click when I land on a new blog is the About Me page. I always want to understand the person on the other side of the computer screen as best I can.

I am a 30 something mother of two young boys, and wife to a fine man. I live in Saginaw, Michigan, and I have lived in Michigan (mainly western Michigan) my whole life, with the exception of a year spent in inner city Atlanta, with the Mission Year program. That was a while ago now, so yeah, really I've lived in Michigan a very long time.

My husband and I have continued on with the vision of Mission Year, and we live in a neighborhood that is a bit rough around the edges, in a house that sometimes feels like it is falling apart around us. We really love it, for the most part, not that there are no challenges that go along with it. I have a Masters in Urban Studies, Community Development from Eastern University outside of Philadelphia. So, this is a thing that we really care about. I'd love to talk to you about it if you are interested. Check out CCDA for more information on this whole idea.

So, I have all that happening in my life, but I've always been a maker of things. Jewelry, paper crafts, origami, sewing, knitting, crocheting, pretty much anything that has struck my fancy. I've even ventured lately out of traditional crafts into the art realm of things. Yikes! #idontknowwhatimdoing

There is something about thinking up something in your head, and making it an actual object, that is magical. It gives hope, and joy, that all things are possible. That is what this space is about for me. It's about processing all of the making, and sharing all of the making. I want to be part of the community of makers who are creating all around the world!

Hopefully this gives you a peek into who I am. I will add an obligatory picture now.

Here I am wearing my son's butterfly costume, that I made for him. Yeah.

We used to go to Michigan yearly and visit family.
    I love midwest people.
My parents are from the Netherlands - long story, I am taking care of them now in Northern Virginia, another long story.

I am trying to keep up my sewing, and keeping my house clean-ish
